People who love alcohol always debate about the health benefits of whisky and wine. Some consider whisky to be the best while some consider wine as better. In my consideration, both have some medicinal values, but only when consumed in a limited amount. Everything in this world has positive aspects as well as negative aspects. Alcohol too has its demerits.
As you might have heard, too much of anything becomes bitter, so when alcohol is consumed in excessive quantities it will bring harsh effects on your health. It doesn’t matter whether you consume whisky or wine, when consumed in a limited quantity, both can improve your health condition. In this article, I will put light on some of the health benefits of whisky and wine, and try to give you a clear idea about which one of them is the best for you.
The differences between whisky and wine are:
- If you want to slow down your aging, then drinking whisky is the best option for you as it contains a good amount of antioxidants. Red wine contains a decent amount of antioxidants too, and it is often believed to be better than whisky. But, recent studies have shown that single malt whisky is far better than red wine considering the amount of antioxidants that it provides.
- Whisky is better than wine in comparison to calories that it contains. A 90 ml glass of whisky contains nearly 100 calories whereas a normal size glass of wine contains almost 150 calories. Since whisky contains less calories so it has almost zero fat content, sugar and carbohydrates. Whisky is therefore safe for diabetic people as well. But wine, on the other hand, cannot be consumed by diabetics as it has a higher amount of calories.
- The alcohol content of whisky is far more than wine. Whisky contains around 34% of alcohol whereas wine contains around 8% alcohol. High concentration of alcohol kills various types of bacteria that can cause serious infections in our skin, lungs, and digestive system. Further studies have proved that alcohol helps to enhance our stomach enzymes. So, consuming whisky is better than wine considering its high spirit levels.
- Whisky does not remove the fattiness of high fat-containing foods like meat, cheese, etc. while red wine can do it. One of the famous red wines called Cabernet Sauvignon is often served with fatty foods as it is known to remove fats. However, people often get confused whether it can be consumed by diabetics? Before consuming it you should know ‘Is Cabernet Sauvignon sweet or dry?’ If your bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon is dry, that means it contains low sugar levels, so it can be consumed by diabetics. And, if it is sweet then it is obvious that it cannot be consumed by diabetics. So it is always important to know ‘Is Cabernet Sauvignon sweet or dry?’ as it can increase your blood sugar levels or it can reduce the fat quantity in your food.
